I'm Not Catholic, But Dang....

...their theology of the body and sexuality is sure compelling.  Compelling as in, I pretty much agree completely.

This article is a very well written summary of a personal journey that in the process ties together very coherently the 'big picture' about how cultural assertions and assumptions about the purpose of sexuality have created an environment where infanticide is legitimized by changing objectionable words.  Abortion is not an isolated issue - it's one aspect of a very complex series of ideological battles being waged in both secular and religious arenas.  Abortion can not be rationally separated from prevailing views on the nature and purpose of our sexuality.

The arguments in this article are not of a necessity Catholic.  However the Roman Catholic Church is definitely the most recognizable part of the Church willing to stand and make them still.  I think that many within the theological vanguard of my own denomination would agree with what was said here and how it was said, yet we don't seem able to get this message out consistently and publicly.  This is Biblical theology, not just Catholic.  It's unfortunate that the Catholics are in many ways the last holdout in this theology that was once much more prevalent across a broader cross-section of Christianity.  Conservative Lutheranism should be right on track with this - or if not, maybe someone can point out to me or remind me why we aren't!

Some of you longer term readers may recognize the author - I was participating in her "7 Quick Take Fridays" theme about a year or so ago.  Very articulate writer - she's an up and coming voice in Catholic circles, and for good reason.
