Embassy Sweet?

It's kind of funny that the current administration is having a tough time finding an ambassador to the Holy See.  This would appear to be the first time this sort of difficulty has arisen in the last nearly 30 years or so.  Reagan, both Bushes, and Clinton were all able to find acceptable ambassadors without too much difficulty.  Obama, on the other hand, has had three of his potential nominees rejected by the Vatican because of their pro-abortion stances.

It seems a rather basic operational matter to select an ambassadorial candidate who does not conflict with the place they are supposed to serve in any fundamental way.  It would not, for example, be deemed in very good taste to suggest an ambassador to Israel that denied the Holocaust, for instance, or has publicly indicated that they don't believe that the country they are being suggested as an ambassador to should even exist.

But it appears that the Obama administration feels it's perfectly reasonable to suggest possible ambassadorial candidates to the Holy See who disagree with one of the most fundamental tenets of the Roman Catholic faith - the sanctity of life and an unflinching stance against abortion.  While both sides are being discreet about the current impasse, it seems to reflect a basic assumption of the New World Order as embodied by Obama and many others - you have to tolerate me, but I don't have to tolerate you.
